The Cure Galore

The Cure is one of the most popular and acclaimed rock bands of the 80's and today. The British band formed by vocalist Robert Smith, Michael Dempsey, Lol Tolhurst, and Porl Thompson have undergone numerous changes in band membership and musical changes yet has continued to win over an increasing number of fans and critics (young and old), something a few bands have not been able to manage. Unlike the majority of rock acts, The Cure became more and more innovative over time rather remaining loyal to a particular sound. Throughout the years, the band has remained true to the artistic vision while exploring a variety of musical styles ranging from goth-rock, punk, and psychodelia. This is a unique trait that attracts their followers including myself because you never know what they are going to come up with next. One of my favorite albums "Galore" is a great example of what an album should be. Songs like "Lovesong", "Why can't I be you?", and " Just Like Heaven" are my favorite songs from that album. These older songs mostly know as "flash backs", take me back to a particular time and place in my high school years and just makes me want to dance! Because this band group is not too much in the music scene, most of the younger generation fans have not had the privelage to see them live. Thankfully, this will no longer be the case for me and many of us going to the final night of the Coachella Music Festival in April.
